INSECURITIES I was watching a YouTube video the other day where a girl went 5 days without looking in the mirror. My expectation was that she might end up going a little crazy... not knowing if her hair was out of place or if something might be in her teeth?. Instead she found that not seeing her reflection caused her to stop thinking about her insecurities. You see, insecurities stem from how others perceive us. Most physical insecurities don’t even affect us, we don’t notice them until we see our reflection which is simply what other people see when they look at us. Ideally the solution would be to stop worrying what others think about you and to stop allowing negative thoughts about yourself to rule your mind. In reality that seems impossible sometimes. Self love is a journey that has to begin somewhere. You can go at your own pace but a good place to begin is finding the things you love about yourself when no one else is around. What are the reasons your proud of yourself. It can be as simple as “I went through such a difficult thing and I’m still here.” Then recognize those negative thoughts when they come and remind yourself of what your OWN perception of yourself is because that’s THE MOST important. You are beautiful, you are loved, and you are valid?

I was having dinner and there’s was a family next to me. The little boy that looked around 10 years old said to his dad “I can’t wait until 2019!” Then the dad asked why. I was curious to hear what he was so excited about in 2019 but I couldn’t have predicted what he said next. “BECAUSEEEE that means that someone else can start running for president” and THIS ladies and gentlemen is why I have faith and hope in this generation. Sometimes you have to just stop talking about the things you want to do and the trips you want to go on and just do them. There’s always a way to get there but you first have to stop asking the question “if” you can and start asking “how” you can.

Growing up in Bermuda I always got so excited for hurricanes. Ik that sounds a little crazy but hurricanes are different in Bermuda. If it hit during the week that meant at least two or three day off of school. It’s our version of a snow day ? Our buildings are so strong that there’s really nothing to worry about. It’s an excuse to buy a ton of food and snacks and spend time with friends and family. As the storm passed we don’t fear for our safety because we trust that the house will protect us from the chaos outside. Then the lights go off and the board games come out. It’s just a moment of comfort and peace ironically in the middle of a storm. It’s always good to have a comfort in our storms (metaphorically) whether that’s a place or a person or a relationship. For me it’s Jesus, I don’t know what I was do without him in my storms. My prayer is that, for anyone going through something difficult right now, you find comfort and are able to get through stronger than you were before. You are capable of any and everything you put your mind to. You will get through it. Love you guys? xx Btw it’s just raining in the picture.
